Mechanical Wings

The Mechanical Wings mod features steampunk mechanical wings and goggles that allow players to glide through the air using controlled, momentum-based flight. It is designed for players in the need for speed. Note: the flight system is still in early development, so expect some rough edges and some occasional jitters.

FORGET WALKING Mechanical Wings is all about physics and momentum. Put on the wings, jump from a cliff, and try not to crash. We're using a steampunk aesthetic for the wings and goggles because nothing says "unstable flight" better than gears and brass.

THE DEAL

• Momentum-Based: You don't just float. You dive to get speed, you pull up to gain height. If you lose speed, you fall.
• Steampunk Gear: Custom models and animations for wings and goggles.
• ECS Core: Built on Hytale's Entity Component System. It's efficient, but we're still tinkering with the physics engine.
• Head Steering: You look where you want to go. Keep your eyes on the prize.

WARNING: CURRENT STATE The flight isn't perfectly smooth yet. Because of how we're forced to sync velocity with the server, expect some jittering and jerky movements while in the air. We're working on making it fluid, but for now, it's a bit of a wild ride.

For the best experience, we highly recommend using the mod in local or single-player mode for now to ensure maximum fluidity. Local usage ensures you soar high and smooth as a fly.

TECH STUFF We're using a server-side "GlidingSystem" that recalculates lift and drag every tick. We send "ApplyKnockback" packets to force the client into the right trajectory.

TRY IT OUT Equip the wings in your back slot, find a tall mountain, and jump. Don't say we didn't warn you about the landing.
