Destroy, and it awakens. Observe, and you may pass.
This is the first Echo.
While exploring, players may encounter an ancient ruin left behind by a forgotten civilization. At its center, an forgotten guardian bound to an ancient ruin. A machine powered by an unknown magic. The sentinel reacts to how the player behaves.
The sentinel is not hostile by default. It does not react to the player’s presence, movement, or curiosity.
Instead, it listens to the environment.
If the player disturbs the ruin by breaking blocks or attacking, the sentinel awakens. Once active, it becomes hostile and attacks, enforcing the rule it was created to uphold.
If the player respects the ruin and leaves it untouched, the sentinel remains asleep.
Within the ruin, players may also find a relic such as the Sentinel Shield, remnants of a system that once protected something important long after its creators disappeared.
There are no prompts, quests, or UI hints. The mechanic is learned purely by careful exploring

Sleeping Sentinel is designed as a mod teaser and the foundation for a larger concept. In the future, the ruin is intended to serve as the entrance to a dungeon unlocked not by destruction, but by restoring or giving back to the environment.
We really liked the theme and our idea would be: Forgotten systems that still operate, long after their makers are gone, where players curiosity spark, and may find something more then just forgotten machines.
